The Wisdom of Solomon #1

Just a brief update ---

Some people will tell you that action features have no place in an action figure toy-line.

These are the people you should not be associating with, by any means!

Inaugural Post!

Hi no one in particular,

I am kicking things off with a terrible photo I took of my recently-built 1/100 scale Master Grade Gundam Exia (from the wretched semi-watchable first season of Mobile Suit Gundam 00) kit.

Since the picture is pretty bad (I took it with the camera on my G1 mobile phone) here are some ignorable useful facts rants to make it more bearable:

1. Purchased the kit from Gundamstoreandmore.com (GSAM), their pricing is fairly decent but their shipping is a bit of a nosebleeder.

2. You'll definitely be using the included stickers here, as they're used to create a three-dimensional image effect within the "crystal bubbles" (via clear green plastic lenses) on the arms, chest, head, and legs.

3. The hand/wrist structure could've been better designed considering how much of a freaking pain it is to mount the GN Sword (the gun/shield/sword combo that is the Exia's trademark).

4. There's some clear shimmery plastic covers that attach to the shoulders, torso sides, forearm, and thighs. You'll want to take special care to probably mask them before you give your Exia a topcoat as otherwise you might fog or distort a really neat concept. You might also want to color the little sliding piston-esque parts in the arms and thighs a reflective metallic color (silver should work) so they stand out nicely when you flex these parts.

5. G-d be super careful when you're cutting out the white edge-part for the long and short GN blades. They're extremely thin and delicate, so they'll be difficult to sand away any clip marks. Might want to use a really sharp X-acto instead.

6. This was a strictly out of box build that has been panel-lined. Yes I am lazy but it was a fun, self-indulgent graduation-present lazy. I may try to continue detailing it with the dry-transfer and water-slide decals soon-ish.

Going forward, I think I will be focusing more on the 1/144 High Grade Universal Century kits to not only brush off the rust of my Gunpla building skills but also to create and hone new skills -- particularly in painting. They're far cheaper kits than the Master Grade series and if you can end up making a dinky little kit look good, you'll go super-far with the bigger deal ones.

I'd like to work exclusively on a set of Gundams that were featured in the less-than-stellar PS2 game, Mobile Suit Gundam: Journey to Jaburo's opening animation (which you can check out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djfL4DS155I).  Yesss, Tobe! Gundam is a sweet theme song.

Unfortunately, Bandai has yet to market a GM Sniper II HGUC kit (there's a few B-Club conversion kits but those prices are ridiculous) so I'll substitute with either 0080's GM Commando Ground or maybe the GM Cold District-Type. I'll say this though: I definitely cannot wait to sink my teeth into that Blue Destiny suit. Rowr.

I think we're about good here. Maybe I'll go see if there's any cheap but decent digital cameras on sale.
